UPDATE on Fluffy Girl
So it has been a week since the cat was hospitalized ($$$$$) and although she is not out of the woods yet, it looks like they will be preparing her for surgery later today. All in all she is a trooper. I went to see her yesterday and she stood up for the first time in a week. She is still being force fed and has the IV hooked up but she is purring up a storm.
We will not know her outcome until after the surgery but we are optimistic. The Doctors love her so much, and have gone above and beyond, so much so that they want to keep her as their live-in resident pet.
She has touched the hearts and lives of everyone involved. Way beyond anything that I have ever seen. The world is a selfish place, but given what I have seen and felt, there is hope afterall! There are still some people out there that are continuously putting the needs of others (human or non-human) far beyond the needs of their own requirements. We are fortunate enough to have surrounded ourselves with such people.
Here is a picture of her taking a break from the IV.
PS - If you are wondering about the reference above to $$$$$$..........lets just say that three adults could of had a really nice all-inclusive trip to Cuba. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

Fluffy Girl - The Barn mascot
This weekend was a sad day at our barn. Fluffy Girl, our barn cat, was maulled by a visiting Golden Retriever. What seemed like a friendly visit from Kelly and Homer (the dog) soon turned into chaos. As usual, Fluffy Girl came out from the barn to greet the new visitor, as she always does with our two dogs each morning. However one thing led to another and soon Fluffy Girl was shaken and carried off like a prized possession. Although in the end, Fluffy Girl did get in a few scratches, she virtually used up at least seven of her lives that afternoon. Homer did finally let go of the cat and later that afternoon she returned to the barn but not without injury. She was on the brink of death with outward injuries to graphic to describe however not limited too glazed over eyes, teeth marks that showed fatty tissue, swollen jaw and swollen back end.
In the end, we manage to get her to see the vet. She will be on IV for three days, force fed and given pain killers every three hours. The vet will prepare her for surgery once the swollen areas go down. Responsibly and thankfully, Homer's owners are footing the $500 vet bill.
Round one goes to Homer but watch out Homer Fluffy Girl will get you in round two with a KO!

Update on Peyton
Yesterday we went to watch Erika ride Peyton. This girl is huge!!!! Peyton that is ;-)
Erika looks like a little Barbie doll on her.
I hope that Cody grows up to be just like Peyton especially in terms of personality and disposition. She is worth millions alone just on those two attributes. Erika has done a fabulous job on her.....ok, we can take some of the credit because we loved her (still do really) like one of our own when she was roaming our pastures.
Oh yeah, we had a great time hangin' out with Erika, too! Of course, leave it to Erika to bring a refreshing treat to share with her friends. Always thinking of others that one. OK, so Shawn had to eat KD while Erika was off spoiling her friends...hey, I am not complaining! We got the better end of that deal.
We miss you both!!!!!
