A Friday Funny!

My cousin, Mandy, came by the barn this morning to groom and play around with her horse. Little did she know that she would be put to work. Ian and I had to be in town all day because of work commitments so Mandy jumped at the opportunity to help us out.

She agreed to give the horses more water and hay before she left the barn. Seems simple.... right! Wrong. On a sunny calm day this would not be a problem; however, today is not one of those days. Although the sun is out, the wind is quite intense (30 to 50 km/h) which makes it very difficult to keep the hay in the field and the water buckets full.

My cousin decided to grab a broom to help her reach for one of the buckets that had tipped over near the fence. As she went to use the end of the broom to reach for the empty bucket, Cody (my little guy) decided to head over to investigate this strange item. He began to sniff the broom and touch it with his mouth. No, he didn't stop there. He proceeded to use the brissels as his personal scratching post. One side was not enough for Cody....no, he turned around to have the other side done too! Can you believe it! That horse is too smart for his own good!

It should be a fun filled summer with this little guy. He is not afraid of anything. Stay tuned for more stories about Cody- The Colt!

A Winter Moment

Peace and Tranquility - Nearing the end of winter, there are moments like this that one has to cherish. By mid February most people in Canada are pretty tired of these cold and over-cast days, so to capture a moment such as this one reminds us how lucky we are to be Canadian.
