Moment to remember

I love Cheyenne! She is so beautiful.

Sophie's first day outside at MoorMair Acres

Sophie and Cheyenne having a moment. I think she is going to love it here!

Bad Boy Cody - Once Again!!!

Cody must be going through his terrible two's. He will be two on April 1st but I think he is showing early signs of this stage of his growing.

Yesterday Cody decided to start acting up while I was trying to bring him in for his dinner. Lately, he thinks that he can do his own thing while I am leading him into the barn. I think NOT! The problem is that he doesn't always respond to the measure of discipline that is being given. I can give him a swift kick in the butt with my boot and he thinks it is time to play. Yipee!

Lately he has also been quite nippy. What is with that? He was never like that before. Perhaps he is teething. In any event, surely he is going to get tired of getting my elbow or the back of my hand in his face. No...not Cody. He is just like his mom. Full of spirit. Gotta love it! Most horses will eventually submit to pressure being given to them....noooooo, not Cody. For the most part, he is very giving but these past few weeks have been a great challenge for me. Hopefully this is only a "teenage" stage.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that because Cody was acting out yesterday while I was bring him in, my husband decided to take him into the round pen to move him around to show Cody who was boss. That worked to an extent..........until Cody decided he didn't want to be pushed around anymore. So if you know his mom, you can only guess what happened next. Yeap, he decided to run though the three rails of the round pen and take a tour. At least when he was done acting out, he ran right into the barn and into his stall. However, there was no dinner waiting for him that night. Bad Boy!

Arrival of Sophie - A Girlfriend for Cody!

My cousin is so excited to be getting her very first horse. I think she has probably driven all her clients at the nursing home she works at nuts! However, it is an exciting time. There will be so much to learn...for not only her but for her feisty filly, Sophie. I am happy for her. Horses are good therapy as they help you stay grounded. No pun intended! Because Sophie and Cody are close in age, much of their training will happen at the same time. This will be fun for both my cousin and I as we will be hitting the "terrible two" stage together. Hopefully, we will have no broken bones to report. Here is a picture of Sophie taken this summer.

Bad Boy Cody! Tsk - Tsk!

Cody was not a good boy this morning. While our "zookeeper" went into Cody's stall to put his halter on, Cody decided it was a nice day to explore the great outdoors without his faithful owner. Naughty, naughty! Cody knows better than that. I think he was trying to exhert his dominance. So Cody went for a little walk around the field. At some point during his adventure, Cody came to his senses and let "Mr. Zookeeper" halter him and lead his back to his stall where he had to stand in the corner for a good 15 minutes. Poor Cody, I guess he will be grazing by himself for the next couple of days.

New Addition to MoorMair Acres

Sophie is a cute little 1 1/2 old QH/Standard Breed. She is very dainty looking but you can tell that she has a little spark to her. She has that mischievous look! She will be a welcome addition to the herd and a new playmate for Cody who is also the same age. She is a little smaller than Cody but I am sure by summer time she will have grown quite a bit.
